I first heard the word “Ayurveda” under the shade of a tent in a valley in Southwest Virginia.
The word meant nothing to me then. But I could tell that the woman who kept uttering it had something I longed for. She was radiant, peaceful, and grounded in ways I couldn’t even begin to understand. So I bought a book on the subject that day and read it right away.
Ayurveda, which means “the knowledge of life”, is a science rooted in the Vedas – a wisdom text of India. It teaches us to live in union with Mother Nature while simultaneously taking us on a journey deep inside ourselves in order to truly heal. Ayurvedic practices range from simple additions to our daily routines like dry brushing to seasonal healing cleanses to more involved body work intended to facilitate deeper levels of healing.
Ayurveda played a key role in my body’s recovery from the effects of chemotherapy and a hysterectomy and has been instrumental in learning to navigate life in a new, menopausal body. But more than that, it has helped me design a life that supports my unique make up, encouraged me to carve out time to dote on and care for my physical body, and has helped me establish a stronger connection to the Divine.
Sounds quite lovely, doesn’t it?
As an Ayurvedic lifestyle coach, I’ll guide you in exploring how this ancient science can ground your mind, nourish your body, and rejuvenate your soul.
Stay tuned for my Ayurvedic offerings coming in 2019.
